Even more, from around the house

These 4 pictures are from my kitchen.
1. Punched tin candle lamp. The design is a pineapple. I bought this at Goodwill for $2.00, the mustard color is perfect in the kitchen.
2. I love the shadows it casts on the wall.
3. When I bought this little wooden cabinet it was light, country blue. I promptly painted it burgandy and added the porcelain knobs. I have recipes and coupons in it. It came from the cutest second hand store. It was a little more than I wanted to spend, so I kept checking back until it was marked down to my price. They aren't in business anymore and boy do I miss that store! The little bear is a mohair bear that my friend Jan gave me for my b-day, years ago. The tin topped salt and pepper shakers are from an antique store and the stitchery is from Goodwill.
4. This is a pic of my counter tops. They were an ugly white with gold fleck formica. I had read an article in a country magazine years ago about sponge painting a counter top. I tore it out and saved it. I was sure glad that I did. I have had so many compliments on these. Some of my friends told me it would never work. But I knew it would!

May I ask how long the counters have stayed the way they are? I have a friend who wants to do somthing to hers. Maybe you could share how you got them that way, what kind of paint etc in another post! In this economy there are sure to be others thaet want new counters but can't spnd right now.
