Rocky gave us quite a scare...

it rained off and on most of the day Wednesday. When the weather is ugly, Rocky usually sleeps ALL day, so I didn't really think anything of not seeing him. When Richard got home from work I went in the bedroom to get Rocky. Imagine my surprise when he wasn't in his "nest".

We looked high and low. No Rocky. Then I remembered a little slit in the sliding door screen in the dining room. Well, it was no longer a little slit. It was a hole. Just big enough for a squirrel to crawl out of.

We went outside and called him, in the rain. Nothing. We walked all around the yard, just talking so he could hear our voices. Nothing. We finally resigned ourselves to the fact that he is almost a year old and probably didn't want to live with us anymore.

We both cried. Being afraid that he wouldn't know how to fend for himself. He wouldn't have a nest. The other squirrels would be mean to him! I know, we're big softies!!

We decided we would leave the sliding door open, just in case. Richard went to bed around 9:00 and I was in my scrapbook room on the computer(shocker!), when I heard a rattle in his cage. I figured it was one of the dogs in the living room messing around. Nope, the dogs were in the scrap room with me. I peeked in there and there he was sitting on the entertainment center eating a nut! I went in and he was soaking wet. But fine and hungry! I woke Richard up and he came running (LOL) in there! Boy were we relieved.

It amazes me that he knew to come home and to come back in through the hole he went out of! I still can't get over it. I guess living with us isn't so bad after all!!
